According to website Buzzfeed.com, Romney’s presidential campaign may have bussed in supporters from south Florida to the University of Miami to give the illusion of enthusiastic support at a Univision/Facebook-hosted “Meet the Candidates” forum.
According to the site, “the Romney camp realized there weren’t enough sympathetic students to fill the stands on their night — so they told the network and university that if they weren’t given an exemption to the students-only rule, they might have to ‘reschedule.'”
This stood in contrast to President Obama’s reception at the forum, where he was greeted with stone-cold silence and less-than-enthusiastic support. But this may have been because of this added outside support, according to Buzzfeed.
“Both candidates had partisan crowds at their forums, but that Romney’s non-student activists ignored instructions to hold their applause,” according to Maria Elena Salinas, a Univision anchor who moderated the debate.
